U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General Federal Agents Arrest Arizona Produce Company Owner in Foreign Labor Visa Fraud and Illegal Firearms Investigation

WASHINGTON — Federal agents with the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General (DOL-OIG) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with significant support from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, executed three federal criminal search warrants last week in southern Arizona. The warrants targeted two locations in Rio Rico and one in Nogales. The coordinated enforcement action is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged foreign labor visa fraud and federal firearms violations. The subject of the investigation is the owner of an Arizona produce repacking company that employed illegal foreign workers at its facility. During the execution of the search warrants, agents discovered multiple firearms allegedly possessed by the subject, a previously convicted felon who is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is being released at this time.
